National Foundational Narrative Project led by Imagine Canada
In November 2011 Imagine Canada and its partners, the Community Foundations of Canada, Philanthropic Foundations Canada and United Way of Canada, hosted a National Summit for the Charitable and Non-Profit Sector. Over 500 Canadian non-profit sector leaders took part, and among them nearly 50 leaders from BC.
The Summit named four priorities:
- Solidifying the financing of charities and nonprofits,
- Attracting and retaining the best and the brightest to work in our sector,
- Strengthening volunteerism, and
- Developing a foundational narrative communicating our contributions and impact – determined to be the most critical Summit priority identified.
Work on the National Foundational Narrative has continued since then through a broad Steering Committee with representatives from across the country, including British Columbia. So far they have developed a detailed Narrative Core Resource including an Impact Evaluation Discussion. Imagine Canada, with the input of the Steering Committee is also developing sample narrative tools and messages and they plan to mobilize these foundational messages by late 2013 / early 2014.
The New Directions for British Columbia’s Non-Profit Sector Project partners continue to maintain close relations with the national project.
